Enjoy this timeless gift from the ocean in good health!

What is Celtic sea Salt and where does it come from?

“Celtic salt”, Celtic Sea salt, also commonly known as Sel gris or gray salt in French, is harvested from seawater in the estuaries near the town of Guérande in France. As the tide comes in, seawater is first allowed to settle in clay silt ponds where the combined effects of wind and sun form a dense brine. The brine is then channelled to shallow salt pans dug in the native clay where it crystallizes via solar evaporation to form salt crystals. The clay from the silt as well as from the salt pans impart Sel gris with its characteristic Gray colour. Sel gris is a coarse salt that is typically harvested with a moisture content of 15%, whereas most sea salts and commercially manufactured salt maintain moisture contents of less than 1%.

Celtic Sea Salt is authentic, unprocessed, whole salt from pristine coastal regions. It retains the natural balance and spectrum of essential minerals, supplying the body with over 84 vital trace minerals and elements.

It is a mineral-rich, whole crystal (coarse), moist salt that is completely unrefined and hand harvested. Dried using centuries old traditional methods, with the sun and the wind; it retains the ocean's moisture, locking in a vast array of vital trace elements. Light Grey Celtic gets its light grey hue from the pure clay lining of the salt beds where it is harvested.

What are the wellness benefits of taking Celtic sea salt?

Celtic or French grey sea salt, helps to support healthy longevity in a variety of ways. In fact, it has for centuries played a significant role in traditional healing modalities such as Ayurveda, a natural system of medicine which originated in India over 5,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda derives from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Translated to “knowledge of life,” Ayurveda is based on the belief that illness is associated with an imbalance or stress in a person’s consciousness, and that we must have complete knowledge of our lives for optimal well-being.

According to Ayurvedic teachings, raw sea salt in small amounts may help soothe the throat, clear the sinuses and aid in detoxification. Also, since sodium plays a vital role in fluid balance, insufficient levels in the body can lead to clinical dehydration, especially during high-intensity exercise. As electrolytes, sodium, and potassium work in tandem to ensure a proper fluid balance in your body’s cells as well as your blood plasma and extracellular fluid. Celtic sea salt is rich in additional electrolytes as well, including magnesium, calcium, and potassium.

How to take Celtic sea salt?

Using our 'Celtic Sea Salt Hydration Mineral Dispenser', dispense a sesame seed size Crystal on to the tongue. after a few seconds, give it a little crunch and then swill around the mouth.  The mucus membranes in the mouth are absorbing first of all, the magnesium which is a water hungry molecule.

Take a sip of a small glass of water and swill around the mouth.  Drink the remaining water in the glass. The magnesium will take the water via the blood straight to the cell and it pulls the water inside the cell, this allows for absorption of the water and all the other trace minerals to be penetrated deep in to the cells of the body.
